I have been involved in the industry since 1989, building strong relationships, I now use the experience gained to lead our team of dedicated, knowledgeable, caring mortgage planners. Consistently a top producing team in Western Canada, over the years we have funded over a billion dollars in mortgages. Assisting my clients with their mortgage planning makes coming to work each day a pleasure. Building Assets…Decreasing Debts…and still having fun is a goal we all have and I do my best each day to help my clients work towards that goal. Your mortgage is not just about the interest rate. Although rate is important, so is your mortgage plan and finding the best product that fits your plan will help you attain your goals. Over the years I have developed relationships with banks, monoline lenders, professionals in real estate conveyancing, financial planning, life insurance and home insurance providers. I am happy to refer to my clients to these valued associates.

On a personal side, I believe in community service whether it be monetary or volunteering. In 2016 I had an idea, and with our team we formed our “Bikes for Kids” program. This non-profit program has grown rapidly. With the assistance of the RCMP, DBL Disposal , the Nanaimo Brain Injury Society, and those who give their time to volunteer we are able to service donated bike and have them road ready to be delivered to children in our community who can really use them. To date we have provided over 2500 bikes to families in our community.

I have been arranging mortgages in Nanaimo since 2015 and have been involved in the industry since early 2010. Being exposed to the mortgage industry at a young age through my father, I took an interest in the planning side of the mortgage world. I noticed early on that there is much more to a mortgage than interest rates and payments. Through working closely with my clients, I work to build relationships and plans so that I can help with mortgage advice, not just through the transaction but for the life of their mortgage. Annual reviews with me offer an opportunity to review your plan and make alterations to that plan as life changes. As we know it does. Like my father, I believe that we need to have a plan in place to help pay off debt, increase assets, and have fun! I have had personal experience with this by not only focusing on my a career as a mortgage planner but also taking the time to enjoy being a drummer in a band writing music, recording and performing. Maintaining a balanced lifestyle is so important to a person’s happiness and my goal is to help my customers achieve this.

My name is Trish Cusson and I am happy to be part of the Nowik Team. I retired October 1/18 after an amazing 32 year career with CIBC in Port Alberni. During my career I worked several roles from Customer Service Representative to Branch Manager. I only had one focus which was to provide exemplary customer service and trusted financial advice from Mortgages, Loans, Investments to Basic Banking. The clients and my peers were always an extension of my family, and I treated each person with the utmost respect. It warms my heart when past clients tell me how much I am missed. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I missed the connection with my clients. I have been doing mortgage financing for over 28 years. I have been part of the Nowik Mortgage Team since 2020. I was born and raised in Nanaimo but spent over nine years living and working as a teacher in Asia. I missed this beautiful island and returned for good in 2011 to raise my two sons here close to family. I have been working in the mortgage industry since 2012 and got my mortgage license in 2017. As a licensed assistant to the team I am involved in the process of underwriting mortgages and communicating with our clients to collect supporting documentation for their mortgage. I also assist with client follow up and support post funding. Working with people in this fast paced industry is a great fit for my personality and teaching background.

I am excited to be a part of the Nowik mortgage team. I am a Vancouver Island girl and have lived in the Nanaimo area for most of my adult life. I graduated from Vancouver Island University with a bachelor’s degree. I have two wonderful kids in high school. My husband and I love exploring the many trails and beaches with our very loved Great Dane, Raider.
As a licensed assistant to the team I am involved in the process of underwriting mortgages and communicating with our clients to collect supporting documentation for their mortgage. I also reach out to our existing clients when their mortgage is up for renewal or they are due for an annual review with their broker. I love working with people. Our clients, our lenders and our team!
